Photograph Taken On Thursday, October 1, 2020

50 Years ago and it was all change! October 1970 went out with a bang. On the 30th, at Heathrow, PanAm Clipper B707 N870PA was noted - eventually she became USAF E-8C JSTARS 95-0121 (see Andy Chetwyn's shot of her: ) along with Scandinavian DC-9-41 LN-RLB (Carl Ford caught her there 2 years later: ) and an afternoon visit to Northolt, glorious Keflavik based US Navy VC-121 Constellation BuAer No.131635 was in (see Leo Larsen's lovely shot of her here: ) and then it was back to Heathrow for my last morning 'Watch' on the 31st before leaving ATC for good and making a last trip on the old Greenline 727 bus to Gatwick where Belgian International Air Services (BIAS) DC-6B OO-PAY rounded things off nicely (see Norbert Kröpfl's lovely shot of her from 1971 here: ) November started well with the appearance overhead Shoreham of New Zealand registered Tiger Moth floatplane 'ZK-AKK' plus a Kenyan registered Aztec 5Y-ACX arrived which became G-AYMO and then with a bit of time on my hands before finding a position with a local Aerial Survey Company 'Dot Spotting' from my parents home in Shoreham started in earnest (though without the photography) Over the 3rd and the 5th of November, numerous MAC Starlifters were noted tracking both East and West via the Midhurst reporting point plus a USAF KC-135 63-8020 (Peter Nicholson caught her at Mildenhall in 1977: ), a Canadian Air Force CC-130 Hercules 130323 heading into Gatwick and a French Air Force C-47 Dakota No.222/F-DA tracked towards Seaford for home 50Y_039View image on Flickr
