The Glyn Valley Tramway station and site of level crossing at Glyn Ceiriog. The station building still exists but as a private residence. The GVT was a 2ft 4¼in / 724mm gauge line that ran for 6.5 miles /10.5 km from Chirk to Glyn Ceiriog which was the limit of passenger workings. There was a further 1.75 miles / 2.8 km to the slate and granite quarries that were the raison d'être for the line's existence. The railway opened in 1873 and closed in 1935 and all trackwork and rolling stock was scrapped. 31/03/1963 [GB 1392].View image on Flickr
