Photograph Taken On Friday, February 14, 2020

The New building. The Cathedral opened to groups of 30 photographers on the 14th Feb 2020 and we where given 1 hour per group to wonder at will to take photos. The Cathedral was only partly lit up so some nice dark and light parts. to explore. 1496 - 1509 A extensive building programme undertaken at the East End creating the 'New Building', an excellent example of late Perpendicular work with fine fan vaulting probably designed by John Wastell, who went on to work on Kings College Chapel in Cambridge. Peterborough Cathedral is one of the finest Norman cathedrals in England. Founded as a monastic community in 654 AD, it became one of the most significant medieval abbeys in the country, the burial place of two queens and the scene of Civil War upheavals.
