A short river river-side walk downstream from Mill End is the long gone ferry crossing near the tiny hamlet of Aston. A few hundred yards inland is the characterful Flower Pot pub with its eclectic mix of fishing memorabilia and taxidermy. This makes for a scenic five mile circular walk from the eastern end of the bridge at Henley-on-Thames. Best done clock-wise, taking first the Chiltern Way to Aston and Mill End, and then the Thames Path along the river bank from the spectacular weirs at Mill End following the course of the Henley Regatta. I stopped here for a rest break and watch the river for awhile and was treated to the comings and goings of kingfishers flitting up and down the river.View image on Flickr
